Carrying out production in such a way as to minimize its environmental impact while seeking to constantly improve yourself has become essential in recent years. Planet Earth is giving off clear signals in this sense, so that playing blind to the dire consequences we’re experiencing because of manufacturing methods that are not considerate of the environment risks plunging us into an endless abyss beyond remedy. There are plenty of figures that can be mentioned, but the most significant are no doubt those highlighted by the Department of the United Nations that deals with economic and social affairs and with sustainable development. These figures point to the massive increase in the carbon footprint of materials, which has surged by 70% over the last few years. Just to cite one example among many, an evident case of a production system that 'forgets' its carbon footprint is the one involved in the strong proliferation of electronic waste. In 2019, we each individually were responsible for producing 7 kg on average and recycled only 1.7 kg. It is precisely on the transition towards manufacturing methods with a low environmental impact that the UN is focusing with its ambitious SDG project. The aim of this initiative is to secure a better and more sustainable future for everyone by achieving 17 different goals by the end of 2030. Taking concrete action is possible by adopting solutions that comply with the international protocol established by the United Nations and which promote manufacturing processes that are more reliable and responsible. These are the underlying premises of the 12 SDG goals, of which we too, at Magniflex are strong advocates. Magniflex’s commitment in this sense is tangible and reaffirmed by official certifications such as SteP (Sustainable Textile Production), a system for rating a company’s business that ensures the highest standards and the application of Best Practices in different sectors. These in turn guarantee production quality and the protection of the health and safety of our workers. Magniflex has obtained the highest rating in the SteP certification program, a very important milestone that testifies to the company’s ongoing commitment in areas such as the management of chemical products, environmental performance and management, social responsibility and occupational health and safety.
